Lemon Chess Pie
D. Dane TidwellShare
Lemon chess pie is a classic Southern dessert that features a rich and creamy filling made from a combination of eggs, sugar, butter, and lemon juice. The filling is poured into a buttery pie crust and baked until golden and set. The texture of the pie is dense and custard-like with a tangy and refreshing lemon flavor.
It's typically served chilled and topped with whipped cream or fresh fruit. The name "chess" is thought to be a corruption of the word "cheese," as the pie filling has a similar texture to cheesecake.
